Sallie Mae is a 7-year-old 37 inch mare pony. This little gal is a beautiful black and white paint babysitter. She has a gentle – friendly nature and is always the first one to you in the pasture. Sallie is safe for any child and is always well behaved in every situation. Our six year old daughter can catch, groom, saddle, ride, and drive her all by herself, without any issue. She can handle all four of her feet safely. Sallie has been in parades, playday events, grand entries in rodeos, trail rides, and she will keep up with the big horses all day long. Our daughter trained her on pee-wee barrels and poles. Sallie knows her patterns well. Even after trotting or loping the barrels, Sallie slows back down and walks away on a loose rein, calm and quiet, which makes her the perfect pony for small kids starting out. Sallie is also broke to drive. She will stand patiently to be harnessed, and hooked to the cart, and will walk off quietly. She has a slow easy trot and with a couple clucks she will get right up in a road gear and long trot on down the road. She is traffic safe and super easy to drive! She is soft in the bit, easy to turn, and to stop. Her confidence on the trails is what makes her a true babysitter. She is slow to go down hills, easy to handle, with no problem keeping up with the big guys. Our daughter rides her bareback and with a saddle. Bess and her friends have been over and under her in every way you can imagine, Sallie is for sure a SAFE pony. No matter if you ride her everyday or once a month, she is always sweet, gentle, and safe. She is familiar with dragging empty jugs at the end of a string, she doesn’t mind the swinging of a rope, and Sallie will push roping steers down the alley to the chute.
